Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) services at the Center support women’s health. Women’s reproductive systems are complicated and require special care, especially when you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant. Our professionals work with women to address all aspects of both women’s health and perinatal care.
Care During Pregnancy
The healthcare professionals at the Center know that a lot goes through your mind when you are about to have a baby. You have a lot to plan for, and you are experiencing physical and emotional changes in your body. Your Care Team is ready to make your baby’s health a priority. We answer all your questions and provide as much advice and medical support as possible. We help you schedule all your obstetrics appointments and check-in with you throughout your pregnancy. We also help you establish your plan for labor and delivery; however you choose to do so.
OB/GYN Services
Our OB/GYN healthcare providers have training in all areas of obstetrics and gynecology. We have experience diagnosing and treating pregnancy complications and risks. We also provide pregnancy testing, STI testing, and of course regular examinations. Although you do not need to experience any symptoms to come for a visit, common calls for concern include:
- Menstrual pain
- Perimenopausal and menopausal issues
- Pelvic pain
- Vaginal bleeding
- Vaginal discharge
- Urinary or bladder problems

Care for the Sexually Active
If you’re sexually active, OB/GYN services are important to ensure you’re having safe sex and that you take care of your body. If you’re sexually active, contact an OB/GYN healthcare provider at the Center if you need the following services:
- Birth control or other forms of contraception
- Tests for sexually transmitted infections or HIV
- Advice on preventing or treating sexually transmitted infections or HIV
- Vaccination against the human papillomavirus (HPV)
- Treatment and prevention of pain during sex
Meet our Providers
Michael Q. Smith, MD
OB-GYN Director
Dr. Michael Q. Smith is a Board Certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Evansville in 1977. He then attended University of North Carolina where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree in 1980. Dr. Smith continued his education and received his medical degree from University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 1985 and then completed his residency from Greater Baltimore Medical Center in 1989.
When Dr. Smith is not working he enjoys doing community work as a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Incorporated, cooking, plays the base guitar, traveling, family vacations and bowling.
Rachel Jansen, DO, MPH, FACOG, Physician
Dr. Rachel Jansen is a Board Certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees with Honors from the University of Florida. She then attended Des Moines University in Iowa where she earned both her medical degree and Master of Public Health degree with Distinction. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at MetroHealth Medical Center and The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where she worked as Chief Resident.
Teresa Rose, FNP

Teresa Rose is a Family Nurse Practitioner for the OB/GYN department. She completed her Associates in Nursing at Northern Virginia Community College, followed by her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at the University of Louisiana before obtaining her Master’s Degree in Nursing under the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Chamberlain University. Teresa worked as a Registered Nurse for Loudoun OB/GYN in Leesburg, also has previous experience working as a Registered Nurse in High Risk Perinatal department at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, watching football, her favorite team are the Washington Football. Teresa also enjoys traveling, cruising and spending time with her family.
Megan Veale, PA

Megan Veale, a Virginia native, is a Physician Assistant who graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Studies with her Master's of Science in Health Sciences and Physician Assistant Studies degree in 2015. Megan joins our team after spending the last 6 years in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. She has spent the last several years working with Pacific Women's OB/GYN Medical Group, and she is passionate about women's health. She has also worked with AIDS Healthcare Foundation in California, as well as in Primary Care and Urgent Care, where she enjoyed getting to know patients and families.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She loves hiking and visiting different National Parks throughout the United States.
Jayla Lamb, CNM, WHNP
Provider
Jayla Lamb is a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner who obtained her dual-certified Master of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University. She also attended the University of Central Florida where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Jayla previously held a position as a Certified Nurse Midwife at CenterPlace Health, a FQHC in Florida. Prior to that, she worked at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA, as a Registered Nurse in the maternity ward.
In her spare time, you might see her cooking and reading, and likes to travel whenever she can.
