Our team members include physicians who are board certified in Pediatric MDs, Family Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants, in addition to certified Medical Assistants. Meet Our Providers
Dr. Renato Daing
Dr. Renato Daing and his wife live in Alexandria and have 3 boys, all of whom were born in Australia. He began his studies in the Philippines and completed his Doctor of Medicine there at Far East University. Dr. Daing moved to Tasmania, Australia for 3 years where he was the Resident Medical Officer at the Northwest Regional Hospital. In addition, he completed his Pediatric Residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC and has been practicing Primary Care Pediatrics since 2003.
Dr. Daing’s favorite genre of music is classical and pop rock. He plays the guitar, enjoys karaoke and detective movies (especially James Bond). Dr. Daing also enjoys swimming and completing DIY projects around the house.
Dr. Hussein Al-Shammaa
Dr. Al-Shammaa graduated from Faculty of Medicine , Cairo University. He completed his pediatric residency at Maimonides Medical Center in New York City in 1993. He is board certified with the American Board of Pediatrics. Since 1994, he has been practicing General Pediatrics as a solo practitioner. He joined the Center in November 2017.
Dr. Al-Shammaa enjoys running and traveling.
Carmen Martinez, PA-C
Pediatric Physician Assistant
Carmen Martinez, PA-C is originally from New York. She attended the City of New York - City College/ Harlem Hospital Physician Assistant Program. She has practiced in New York, Georgia and in Virginia for the past 13 years. She has background experiences in Newborn and Intensive Care Units and several Pediatric private practices in New York and Virginia. In the last 7 years, she has dedicated her work in community health and has been at GPW Health Center for 3 years.
Carmen Martinez lives in Ashburn with her husband and has 3 adult Children. She enjoys spending her free time attending basketball games and traveling with her family.
Family Nurse Practitioner
Debbie Risco-Dunlap, FNP lives in Lake Ridge with her husband and two boys. She was born and raised in Peru before moving to Virginia and is fluent in Spanish and English. She earned a B.S. in Biology at Marymount University, a B.S. in Nursing from George Mason University followed by a Masters Degree in Family Medicine at Marymount University and she is board certified in Family Medicine. She has worked for 13+ years at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children and Inova Cares for Children.
Her clinical interests encompass all aspects of pediatric care from newborn to adolescence.
Grace (Gracie) Huggins, Pediatric Physician Assistant
Grace (Gracie) Huggins, PA-C completed her B.S. in Human Biology and B.A. in Music at North Carolina State University, followed by her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Elon University. She is an inducted member of Pi Alpha, the national honor society for physician assistants which recognizes significant academic achievement as well as leadership, research, and community/professional service. Gracie’s clinical interests include newborn and infant care, pediatric diet, nutrition and healthy lifestyle promotion, and improving universal access to quality healthcare so that children everywhere can be happy, healthy, and ready to take on the world.
Gracie and her husband are new to Virginia and have settled in Alexandria. They love exploring their new home, venturing into Washington, DC on the weekends, and finding new trails where they can hike and ride their mountain bikes. Gracie enjoys running and yoga as well as cooking, especially for her friends and coworkers. She is passionate about good food and good music, which she loves to experience both at home and while traveling the world.
