Events & Outreach

Outreach is an activity of providing services to any populations who might not otherwise have access to those services. A key component of outreach is that the groups providing it are not stationary, but mobile; in other words they are meeting those in need of outreach services at the locations where those in need are. In addition to delivering services, outreach has an educational role, raising the awareness of existing services. It includes identification of underserved population and referral to services.

Throughout the year, the Center participates in number of Events and Outreach activities in the community, including:

  • Medicaid Applications and Renewals (All Year)
  • Medicaid Information Forums (Every Quarter)
  • Open Enrollment for the Marketplace
  • Mobile Mammography Screenings (Once a month at our 3 locations)
  • Events for the Homeless Population
  • Local Community Health Fairs
  • Schools Health and Wellness Fair

Community Health Centers – The Chemistry for Strong Communities

National Health Center Week (August 8 – 14) is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades.

Community Health Centers serve as the beacon of strength, service, and care in their communities. In moments of pain and loss, they offer support and love. In moments of triumph, they offer hope and a vision for the future. Let’s come together this week to celebrate the roles Community Health Centers have played in both our recent moments of loss and triumph. This National Health Center Week honors those front line providers, staff, and beloved patients who lost their lives during the (ongoing) COVID-19 pandemic. From the very beginning of the crisis, Community Health Centers began finding innovative ways to provide preventative and primary care to their patients.

During this week of remembrance, light a candle for those community health leaders, patients that we lost. As we commemorate those lives and celebrate the future of Community Health, let’s shine a light across the country that will embody the future of primary health care aces for underserved populations. Shine a light on your Community Health Center and share the value that it brings to everyone who it touches.

As things go back to normal we want to celebrate all of the hard work and dedication we have faced during the most difficult times in our careers. This will be our first year that the Center will not have a big health fair to serve our patients and community like we did in the past. The Community Resource team will be hosting a small event at each of our 3 locations partnering with some of our MCO’s (Managed Care Organizations) to bring joy and gratitude to our patients and staff.

We would like to focus on the following:
Tuesday, 8/10: Adult Health Day - Woodbridge
Wednesday, 8/11: Children’s Health Day - Manassas
Thursday, 8/12: Health Center staff & Patient Appreciation Day (All 3 locations)

In preparation for Health Center Week ( August 10-11-12) we would like to ask for everyone to share the attached pictures with your family, friends, personal social media, church members and anyone who might be willing and able to donate to our children. We would like to be able to distribute 75 backpacks/lunch boxes next Tuesday (Manassas site) I’m sure this will make our little patients excited to go back to school.

Donations will be accepted at any of our 3 locations with any member of the Community Resource team.

We appreciate all the support for this event.
